Davison Sets Fastest Lap After First Corner Melee- August 19, 2007

Quebec, Canada-  At the famous Grand Prix de Trois Rivieres, Australian Racing Driver James Davison who started third was involved in a first corner melee that eliminated five cars. Sustaining suspension damage to the left front, Davison limped back to the pits where the team did an extraordinary job to change the front upright and get the car back into the race, 6 laps down.

Davison to the acclaim of the crowd proceeded to drive through the field and set the fastest lap of the weekend. The Grand Prix held in front of a large crowd involved many lead changes and was a great advertisement for the Star Mazda Series. The race was eventually won by Ron White, Dane Cameron 2nd and Nick Haye 3rd.

The Championship Standings are Dane Cameron 1st, Ron White 2nd James Davison 3rd.

Round 10 of the Star Mazda Championship Presented by Goodyear will be staged at Mosport International Raceway in Ontario Canada, run in conjunction with the American Le Mans Series next weekend 25th August.

James Davison, Driver:

"The Trois Rivieres street circuit is amazing with the Star Mazda feature race involving some incredible dicing. I am obviously disappointed the first corner accident precluded me from racing for the lead, but I walk away with the track record. I would like the thank my Velocity team for doing such a fantastic job in every respect. I know I’m competitive so I am looking forward to Mosport next weekend where I aim to win."
