Velocity Motorsports to add LMP2 test program in addition to their Star Mazda program- February 2, 2007

Prospect Hill, NC- After several months of planning Velocity Motorsports is pleased to announce its entry into one of the highest forms of Motorsports competition, prototype racing in the American Lemans Series. The team will use the 2007 season to test and may enter a race or two towards the end of the season in the ultra competitive LMP2 category.

Ken Erb – Director of Business Development
"For some time now we have been considering expanding our race operations to offer a next step for drivers competing in our Star Mazda program. We thought about Formula Atlantic, IPS, and Daytona Prototypes, and felt that the most logical step was to pursue Prototype racing in the American LeMans Series.

"We have had conversations with all of the major chassis, engine and tire manufacturers and are taking the first steps towards building a strategic partnerships."

There is no question that strategic alliances will be necessary for our team to compete with the factory backed efforts of Porsche and Acura, as well as the strong contingent of privateer teams like Dyson. The program however would not have even gotten off the ground without the support and commitment of our newest driver John Faulkner. After several years of competition in the Star Mazda Series where John has been the Masters Series champion as well as a runner up the past two years he also finished in 10th place overall in the Star Mazda Series Championship in 2006.

John Faulker, Driver:

"I'm very much exited to be a part of Velocity as I am extremely impressed with the talent Ken has assembled. This team has tremendous depth, knowledge and experience at the top levels of Motorsports competition in the Star Mazda Series and particularly with prototype endurance racing. Price Cobb, Jay Wentz, Russ Gaglio, Pete Mercier and Roger Kosik have all "been there before" and I look forward to working with them as we embark on our P2 test program in preparation for a full 2008 race commitment.

I have known Ken for several years through our association in Pro Formula Mazda and we felt the timing to be ideal to move forward into prototypes. Of course having a former LeMans winner, Price Cobb, on board is an added bonus and I am looking forward to his guidance and insight in my development as a "complete" driver. In fact he's already changed my work out regimen to the "ouch" level!"

Many exciting plans are in place for the team in the coming future. For more information on the team, visit www.velocitymotorsports.com.
